Web Design Project – Development Primer

Where to Begin?

Spend some time reviewing the Design Notes section as well as our navigational model called the Wire Frame. There's quite a bit of information contained in both sections which will be very useful for our process. Think of which specific features you would like to include in the new website and begin assembling any logos, images, or other media you wish to include on the new site.

How to Use This Website...

In order to insure a successful outcome of the company's new website, the development process must be a two way collaboration between the customer and developer. The intended purpose of this project site is to provide an accessible design platform for those who would like to be involved in the design process.

As we work together on the various phases of this process, information will be posted on this website. This way we will have a common understanding of how we’re progressing at all times. If interested, you’ll be able to review the material and contribute to the development process with any ideas or features you would like to see included.

Design Notes...

The Design Notes Page will be our information repository. We'll use this area to review the various aspects of the proposed design detail ranging from content to color as well as any other elements of design related to the new site. Subjects like site organization, navigation, layout, artwork, graphics, media, features, etc. will be contained in this section.

The Wire Frame...

What's a Wire Frame? Wire framing a Website involves building a text-only version of the site, with working links, but without graphic detail. Within this working model of your Website, the links can be followed through, which provides a real feel for how the information on your site connects and how the site flows. It enables you to pinpoint potential problems that might arise later on, once you've added content to the site. Take a look at the Wire Frame Section to see exactly what I mean.

Alpha Site...

The alpha build of the website is for the internal company software testers, that is, people different from the software developer, sometimes to the public, but usually internal to the organization developing the website. The Alpha Site is were we make sure all the important components of the new website are present and functional prior to adding the final design components.

The Final Design...

After completing all the previous sections we will have ended up with our Final Design. Once both you, the customer and me, the developer are in agreement, this final version will be launched and made available to the customer base and public as the company's new working website.
